Our Commercial team is expanding, and we're looking for an ambitious, self-starting salesperson to help us bring VSTEP's simulators to new customers and markets across the world.

VSTEP is a growing maritime simulation company based in Rotterdam. We build simulators that combine our own software with hardware tailored to each client, and we supply them to training centers, schools, and navies around the world. Our work helps prepare the people who keep ships and crews safe at sea. 
The company consists out of around 70 people with diverse backgrounds from all over the world. We believe this diversity makes the company a great place to work where there is room for growth and learning.

This is an opportunity to take ownership: you'll join a growing team where you can help shape strategy and drive results from day one, work alongside a team of four Business Developers, and expand your scope quickly as we scale.

What you'll do:
You'll join the Commercial department and drive sales of our simulators through partners, direct sales, new leads, and existing clients across the world. You'll hunt for new business and stay the client's main point of contact through the whole sales process.

Main responsibilities:
  • Lead commercial activities including customer and prospect visits, trade shows, and partner meetings
  • Design solutions and build maritime training centers together with customers
  • Partner with our internal Subject Matter Experts to give the best advice to existing and prospective customers
  • Negotiate and close contracts with clients
  • Own the sourcing and review of tender requirements

Is this you?

You have: 
  • A degree in sales, marketing, business administration, or a similar field (maritime or technical is a plus)
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a commercial role, ideally in B2B sales or business development
  • Willing to travel about 30% of the time (roughly 60-70 days a year) for customer visits, prospecting trips, and trade shows
  • Strong spoken and written communication, with the confidence to engage and influence senior decision-makers
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical and commercial requirements
  • A proactive approach to owning and executing your market strategy
  • Strong analytical thinking, able to spot gaps in the market and propose practical solutions
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office
  • A valid driver's license
  • A valid Dutch work permit
  • Sales experience in or around the maritime industry (a plus)
  • Proven track record of negotiating and closing complex deals (a plus)
  • Familiarity with regional business regulations and compliance (a plus)

  • Able to communicate fluently and professionally in English. Other languages are a plus
